Anything Goes

Warner Bros Inc

Cole Porter arranged Teena Chinn

CH0717

A lovely piece but has some interesting rhythmic differences with changes from 4/4 time to 3/4 time. Choir enjoyed singing it and want to do it again - good interesting bass line too. Would recommend it to a choir with some experience rather than a beginners group.

The Very Best of the Beach Boys

Arranged Ed Lojeski

Includes Help me Rhonda, Fun Fun Fun and I get Around

This was really good fun and we only did two of the songs at our concert but will tackle the third for another time. Bass line can get very boring in Help me Rhonda but the men get the tune in Fun Fun Fun. Seems easy on the surface but non music readers had trouble working out where they were in Help me Rhonda as it is all the same.  Not recommended for complete beginners but would suit an intermediate group.

Somethin' Stupid

As performed by Frank and Nancy Sinatra - this lovely song was much enjoyed by my choir. It starts with SA on the melody which is taken over by the men. There is a section in the middle which is basically the tune but singing "doo, doo, doo" and because of the restrictions of rehearsal time, we made this a unison section where everyone sang "doo doo etc" to the tune. Gorgeous rhumba rhythms this is well worth the effort.

That's Entertainment

Starts off unison and changes to FOUR parts occasionally with sopranos splitting. A really lively piece and not too high in the voice for anyone. Easily adaptable to suit voices and experience of choir. We used it to start off a show themed concert and it was a great success. Can also be used as a finale.

This song was popularized by Duke Ellington in the 1940's and is a great swing jazz piece. Not overly difficult but not suitable for beginner choirs. This remains a great favourite with my choir and they love singing it. We could be in danger of singing it too often actually! Some brilliant jazz chords in this and it sounds great!

Minuet Noel

Very achievable Christmas piece which combines The First Noel with Bach's Minute in G. I have used this with several choirs and it is always popular and works well. Easy accompaniment. Highest note for sopranos is a D - ideal for beginner choirs. Recommended.
